Seasonal Floral Design 101A: Bold and Bodacious Autumn Arrangements
Love large luscious arrangements with big, bold blooms like sunflowers, dahlias and brain celosia, but struggle to know how to deal with their thick stems and heavy blooms?
Come learn how to harvest, condition, and design with summer’s biggest blooms like sunflowers and dahlias and specialty zinnias using sustainable design techniques. We’ll experiment with creating both forward facing statement arrangements like those used for memorial arrangements and church services and also a more organic asymmetrical arrangement that can be viewed from all directions which are great for buffet tables, wine barrels, and foyer tables. Some of the design concepts that we will focus on include balance, weight, and structure in addition to color theory and the use of repetition to create interest. Participants will leave with a large floral arrangement and the skills and confidence to create large statement florals going forwards.
All supplies provided including a large vase and light refreshments will be provided. Participants may want to bring a pair of gloves to protect their hands.
